Wayne Everett Ortman
We are heartbroken to convey the news that our beloved Wayne passed away on 4-17-11. Doing what he loved most, riding his Harley with Sonia. There are no words to express our deep sorrow over our devasting loss. Wayne was deeply loved by all that knew him. Wayne was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Hellen Ortman, on 4-29-56. Graduated Ventura High School, Member of the Lathers Union, He worked as a Carpet Layer along with Concrete & Masonry. Wayne had a great love of the outdoors and his Harley-Davidsons which he has ridden for years. He passed this love on to his son Wayne “Bubba” Ortman. Wayne had donated countless hours of his time for the youth of the Ojai Valley through Heal The Community / Mentor Madness Poker Runs which he co-founded. His dream was to see a Boys & Girls Club put in Meiners Oaks. Wayne took every opportunity to participate in every poker run he heard about. He enjoyed his cool beers, playing horseshoes, ice cream, brown M&M’s & steak that “mooed.” He had a way of making friends everywhere he went and could light up a room with his smile. Wayne never had a bad word to say about anyone. He will be remembered for his generosity to all and his amazing sense of humor. Wayne was an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be greatly missed by his many friends, co-workers & family. Words cannot express how deeply he was loved or how much he will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated for funeral expenses. They may be made at Ojai Community Bank or at the celebration of Wayne & Sonia’s life. Bubba & Hellen wish to express their deep appreciation for the kindness you have all shown to them. Bubba wanted you all to know that “ I pushed him to his limit… and he only loved me more & more…” Thank you Dad, I love & miss you.
